Ideation
Task Analysis
After conducting a task analysis of doing laundry, I discovered a recurring issue: back strain caused by multiple steps of the process. The problem initially arises when carrying the laundry from the room to the washing machine, which, in my case, is located down the hall. The weight of the loaded bin results in back pain. While my situation doesn't require me to travel a long distance, others may have to go down the stairs with heavy loads of laundry. The problem continues when loading the laundry into the machine. Bending down to pick up the clothes and manoeuvring them into the machine is difficult due to the awkward height of the machine. Neither standing straight nor kneeling is entirely possible. This same issue arises when transferring the clothes to the dryer and removing them after a cycle.
